Original US Civil War M1850 staff and field officer sword

. Made in 1861. At the start of the Civil War, not many senior officer sabers were produced because the army was relatively small and few new senior officers were appointed. In 1861, only 16 were produced by Ames MFG Co., Chicopee Falls.
The blade is double-marked: the back with the standard Ames stamp, and the front with a needle engraving in floral and military themes. This double engraving confirms its 1861 production. The saber is in excellent condition.
The scabbard is also stamped with the Ames address. 1300€
