For sale Hamilton 4992B G.C.T. – US Military Navigation Watch from WWII – With Rare Box
Rare Piece of War History: Hamilton 4992B Military Pocket Watch (U.S. Govt.)
This iconic Hamilton 4992B G.C.T. (Greenwich Civil Time), which was used by American navigators in bombers during World War II. This is not the civilian version, but the original military instrument marked “AN-5740” and “U.S. Govt.” on the back.24-hour dial: Note that the watch runs with a full 24-hour rotation (not 12), which was essential for accurate navigation in flight. Condition: The watch runs well and keeps time beautifully. The case and glass are in excellent condition considering their age.
The rare case: This example includes the original and very rare transport case with suspension, which was used in the aircraft to protect the precise movement from vibrations and shocks.
Movement: Powered by Hamilton’s legendary high-grade movement with “hacking” function (the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out, so that the watches can be synchronized precisely before a mission).
Why is this a collector’s item?
The Hamilton 4992B is considered one of the best military watches ever produced. The combination of the original military markings, the 24-hour dial and the intact case make this an absolute top specimen for both watch nerds and military historians.
