1941–45!
/Coat (Cold Weather Gear) – Wehrmacht, WWII, Third Reich
I am offering an original and extremely rare sheepskin parka/coat, a garment used exclusively by “special forces” units. Unlike the standard issue, this parka was not made from grey, windproof cotton fabric. The few known surviving examples (four in total) are believed to originate from Norway; this specific piece was found in Narvik. Norwegian “Færen” stamps are located under the armpits. Very few of these coats were produced; I am aware of only five worldwide.
Issued as special clothing for “special forces” operating in cold combat zones. Temperatures on the Northern and Eastern Fronts sometimes dropped as low as -40 degrees.
Scope of Delivery/Info:
Type: Sheepskin cold-weather parka/coat/jacket
Material: Sheepskin/leather
Dimensions: Length approx. 94 cm, shoulder width approx. 48 cm
Usage: German “special forces” – all branches of service
Manufacture: Approx. 1941
Location: Northern and Eastern Fronts
Special features: Stamped “Færen” twice under the armpits. Original and unaltered! Extremely rare!
Condition: Excellent, original, and authentic condition! No moth holes. Made of sheepskin in a special-forces cut, featuring a hood, three front buttons, and two buttons on the chest pockets. There are two loops and two additional buttons on the shoulders for attaching shoulder boards. Six buttons are originally sewn on; one is included loose. There is a drawstring in the collar. However, the cord is somewhat obstructed by a button that is difficult to thread through the fabric, so some patience is required to pull it through. There is a damaged green glass button at each end of the drawstring. Drawstring loops were originally located on the sides of the back, but these were removed because they interfered with the use of the special forces equipment belt with the parka. Small, open pleats on the sides give the parka some flare/width at the bottom. It is lined with white sheepskin. The parka shows signs of older repairs but is in very good condition, and the leather is soft and pleasant to the touch! Given its age of over 80 years, there may be some soiling, a musty odor, and signs of wear or damage. Please refer to the detailed photos in the listing for further information on its condition!
100% original Wehrmacht!
