Exceptional Austro-Hungarian M17 Combat Helmet

1,000.00

One of the finest examples from my collection. This original World War I Austrian steel helmet is produced by Adolf Westen, Cilli, and is clearly marked AW64, with serial number stamped on the top and factory markings.
The helmet retains a beautiful and authentic Isonzo Front field color, a characteristic finish associated with Austro-Hungarian troops fighting along the Italian front during World War I. The paint remains very well preserved, showing only light and honest signs of service wear, giving the helmet outstanding display appeal while maintaining its original wartime character.
A particularly rare feature is the complete original chinstrap, which includes 14 ventilation holes designed for use with the Sturm Brigade gas mask—a scarce and highly desirable configuration rarely encountered on surviving examples.
The shell remains well preserved and nicely presented, making it an excellent addition for WWI militaria collectors, Austro-Hungarian military historians, and helmet collectors. Helmets from the Adolf Westen factory with original finish and rare chinstrap configurations are increasingly difficult to find on the collector market.
Overall, this is a beautiful and historically important M17 helmet, ideal for a serious World War I militaria collection or museum display.
